Benefits of WSA Membership

What Being a WSA Member Means
Since 1947, World Sign Associates has brought together leaders in the electrical sign and supply industry throughout North America. The premier organization of its kind, WSA offers a forum for deep sharing, fellowship, support and the exchange of ideas among business owners and CEOs. WSA members adhere to the highest ethical standards and bring the utmost value to their customers.

WSA Membership Benefits:

Network – Your WSA network provides you with a place to turn when you need help or when other members require your expertise. Members know each other well on a personal level, and the North American network of trusted companies often depend on each other for advice, knowledge sharing and assistance with projects. Close personal relationships developed through face-to-face and virtual contact mean you can feel comfortable reaching out to directly to any member. All of our members’ contact information is available to each other in our secure online members area.

Professional & Organizational Development (POD) teams – Tap into a small group of other sign company owners who can offer you direction based on their experiences. POD teams conduct virtual and in-person meetings on a regular basis, and the moderated meetings provide a confidential forum for deep information sharing that doesn’t occur anywhere else. Dealing with a professional crisis, succession planning or a complex personnel problem? Your POD group supplies you with a trusted, safe and non-judgmental forum to work through your toughest issues. At the same time, you’ll be expected to bring your best thinking to help your fellow POD members through their difficulties.

Cooperation – Over time, some companies create voluntary alliances with other members that allow them to cooperate on client projects. This might include helping with a specialized piece of equipment that you own, or finding an installation partner for a national account. Each member has an expectation that their WSA partners will deliver the highest quality outcomes on schedule. This keeps the WSA fellowship strong and builds an enduring trust among members.

Division Meetings – Face-to-face interactions are central and required for WSA membership. Only members are allowed to attend our Annual and Division meetings. Your geographical Division becomes your team of comrades that you collaborate with several times per year. Meetings include information sharing, educational presentations, round table discussions, social outings, new knowledge from APMs, and sometimes site visits to other member facilities. Multiple Divisions often collaborate to conduct regional meetings, expanding the scope and depth of member contributions.

Educational Seminar & Annual Meeting – Twice a year all members from the eight Divisions and WSA Associate Product Members come together for educational presentations, collaboration and celebration. Top tier speakers are brought in to cover topics of the greatest value to member companies, giving you the opportunity to learn real-world applicable knowledge to help your business succeed. There are also numerous opportunities to share information with your peers. Both events are exclusive to WSA members, and your annual membership dues include one complimentary registration to the Educational Seminar.

Forums & List Serves
– Want quick answers to questions regarding equipment, techniques, potential installation partners or any other pressing issue? A wide range of topics is covered in our closed Division List Serves, and on our closed online forums. You can rapidly access your network in a confidential atmosphere to draw out answers from shared experiences.

Webinars
– An array of topics are covered throughout the year in a format that’s convenient for you and your entire staff. Presentations vary from general overviews to detailed industry specialties. Archives of all previous webinars are available on-demand from our website so that you can train new staff as they come on board, review topics as they become timely and brush up on skill sets when needed.

Tricks of the Trade – Everyone can use tricks and techniques to make their operations run smarter. Dozens of entries are archived for members to access, and each year new tricks are highlighted during our annual competition.

Coolness Competition – Looking for inspiration in sign design and manufacturing? Our compilation of annual “Coolness” competition entries showcases a wide variety of unique and trend-setting projects from all over North America produced by WSA members.

Associate Product Members (APMs) – Your trusted network of WSA members includes manufacturing, materials, service and wholesale providers that are designated as APMs. These companies have close relationships with WSA sign companies, and provide concierge-level service in order to meet your needs and those of your clients. You will have many opportunities to consult with APMs in a relaxed setting to trade problem-solving techniques and to get up to speed on current industry trends.

Shepherding – Once accepted into WSA membership, you will be assigned a current member “shepherd” who will introduce you to other members and to whom you can ask questions at any time. Your “shepherd” will acclimate you to WSA programs, services and member responsibilities.

WSA Member Commitments

Membership in WSA is an honor for sign companies, but we urge potential new members to carefully consider the commitments necessary as part of membership to get the most out of the organization. WSA member companies create relationships and provide each other with close information sharing in order to help make their businesses more successful, and that closeness is
created through ongoing active participation.

WSA membership commitments:

  • Abiding by the WSA Bylaws and Code of Conduct for members.
  • Paying WSA membership dues of $160/month ($1920/year) in addition to Division dues, which vary. Your membership fees allow you to participate in all WSA activities/programs and also include one registration to our annual Educational Seminar held in late winter. Total costs for membership dues, activities and travel can be significant each year so new members are urged to plan accordingly.
  • WSA members are expected to attend 2-3 Division meetings per year, which are not always located within the Division boundaries. The meetings can be attended by the primary named contact or designated staff from a company. Division meeting costs are typically included in division dues, but additional travel and hotel costs are not covered. Division meetings normally span 2-3 days each. Missing 3 Division meetings in a row can result in membership suspension because participation in these meetings, and the collaboration that occurs there, is part of the heart of WSA.
  • WSA members are expected to attend the Annual Meeting in North America. Attendance cost is minimal ($350-$400 range) but travel and hotel are not included. The annual meeting spans 3 days.
  • WSA members are expected to volunteer for positions as they grow within the organization. Typically, this includes committee participation, POD participation, assisting with Division activities and leadership, or serving on the WSA Board.
  • Participation in monthly Product Purchasing Program reporting that accounts for purchases you’ve made with Associate Product Members.
  • Participation in WSA Surveys.
